Foods Resource Bank – Earlville Area Growing Project Harvest Celebration raised a record $18,754 on October 17th, 2015! To date, the Earlville Area Growing Project has raised $5,260 in addition. Several of our project growers recently met and have designated 90% of the money to a project in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This project (number 3009) entitled Katanga Kamina is administered by the United Methodist Committee on Relief and now serves 2,190 households in six communities. This project focuses on agriculture, nutrition, water, and sanitation. To quote the original description on the FRB Website, “The aim of this program is to build local capacity and increase nutritious food production and income for ninety participants of three communities through health trainings and behavioral change messaging.” This project began in 2012. We supported this project last year and this project has expanded from the original concept of helping 90 participants to 2016’s level of 12,045 individuals in 2,190 households! After reading about the progress made and watching a video of the project (online at we felt it has been a well-run and worthwhile project. Thank you to all who support FRB. Your help has changed the lives of the world’s poorest farmers/people for the better and forever!
In FRB’s first 15 years, we’ve supported the efforts of one million people as they learned new and better ways to grow their own food, increase their incomes, improve their homes, farms, and communities, and send their children to school. FRB has set an aggressive goal to reach the next 1 million people by 2023! Again, thank you for your support!
Mark your calendars now for FRB summer and fall! On August 4th and 5th, 2016, the FRB National Gathering will be held in Sandwich, IL. On October 15th the annual Harvest Celebration will be held on the Larson farm East of Earlville. More information will follow.
